Assunpink Stone Tavern Lake Trail - Flower Field by boat launch.

Stone Tavern Lake Loop

7/5/2026 – Assunpink Wildlife Management Area

Quick Stats

– Distance: 3 Miles
– Difficulty: Easy
– Conditions: Wet from previous rain. Trails were in good condition. Humid.

Overall great day to go for a hike. One of the better days to get out given all the rain recently. Surprisingly it did not have much of an impact on the trails. Plenty of sunshine and great views. This area has really turned into being a great for local hiking. Even though there is a lack of mountains and scenic overlooks this place really makes up for the views with the variety of tails and wildlife.

Assunpink Stone Tavern Lake Trail - Stone Tavern Lake

Starting off at the Stone Tavern Boat House followed the road down to the left where it meets up with the main trail. An important note about this area is that there are many trails into and off of the main loop. This is by design as it provides access to many different areas of the lakes. There are also numerous deer paths that look like trails. I stick with All Trails and had no issues finding my way around. After the first stint came up to a main road that leads around the other side of the lake.

The next section was a bit tricky as the turn off isn’t clearly marked. Basiclly when you get to the end of the road above there is a sharp turn and that is when you get back into the trails.

The next section was a little overgrown but certainly passable. Didn’t have that much of an issue but appreciated not wearing shorts because of the thorns. After coming off of this trail there is a loop around a field with great views and usually some deer.

Cut the loop a little short because of possible rain coming our way. After the field and before making the next hard right turn there is another trail that will bring you back almost straight to the boat launch. This turned out to be a great walk back and was able to get some more photos below.
